** I just adopted this letterbox... please be patient with me as I get to it to replace it. I will get to it as soon as possible. Thank you for understanding.

Yours in 'boxing,

Bisbee was once the second largest town west of the Mississippi River. Only San Fransisco was larger. Silver and Copper mines fueled the town's growth. As the mines stopped being profitable the miners left leaving a small but active town behind. A walk around Bisbee reveals many remnents of the mining days, including the Copper Queen hotel and St Elmo bar, both in continuous operation for over a century. During the Depression the WPA added many new paths and walls to the town. The WPA stamp is a common sight as you walk through town. We highly recommend at least a day stop here, if not a weekend. To find the box, head up to the Central Park (the big elevated one) and take a look around town. If you have the luck to be thre on Brewery Gulch Daze you will have to dodge a few water balloons up there. Once you have enjoyed the view, head down to the Gulch below. Looking up at the park you will see an empty lot to the left of the park on the gulch. The lot is home to the remains of several structures. There is a wall parallel to the street. About 4 feet up there is a large hole with a loose rock in it. The box is under the rock. If you are doing this in the afternoon you may have to feign historical interest to get the box unnoticed. If you are so inclined yo ucan have a beer at St Elmo a few doors down while you are stamping your book. Please email us at thenay@jps.net, or letsgoexploring@aol.com to let us know how the box is doing.

PS Feel free to say hi to my parents. They live in the white house with the garden directly across from the old elementary school!
