Freeport Historical Society is celebrating 30 years of stewardship of Pettengill Farm by placing these two letterboxes on October 2, 2005. Check our website www.freeporthistoricalsociety for information concerning this fabulous free family event! All invited!

A dirt road leads to Pettengill
a farm we all adore
through the woods, along the field
walk towards the house for more.

The Harraseeket River flows
and if you sit to rest
some 70 paces down the path
you're part way through your quest...

A large flat stone you'll need to find
turn right in this wooded zone
and if you've learned to fly away
you'll know you're home sweet home.

A second box is hidden still
across the river bend
hike with our 18th president
until the trail does end

Enjoy the view from this fine point
with water all around
lift the lid of the little house
our letterbox you have found!
