Up the Hill Series
These were planted for the Foat your boat gathering. Find your way to Liberty Lake County Park. In my clues I warn about hold your kids hand. I'm talking about little kids. Kids old enough to know not to go too close to the edge of the trail should be fine.

The Anchor

Find your way to the Cedar Grove. It’s about 2 miles from the trailhead. This section of the trail is dedicated to a park ranger. Find the sign that points you toward the waterfall and cabin. This is a very difficult trail. Watch your children hold their hands. Go over the bridge and up the steps. Count the steep switchbacks, go up four. The trail gets tight from overgrown branches, two more switchbacks and tight again. The trail opens up and straight ahead there is a noticeable hole in the trail. Behind that behind bark Under propped up fallen tree is the Anchor.

Butterfly Garden

Continue on after the anchor. More switchbacks. You can take some cutoffs or continue on the switchbacks. Enjoy the fabulous view of Liberty Lake. Continue up and it opens into a forest. The trail level out slightly for a little while. See the stump right in the trail? Look inside under dirt and Bark.

Steering Toward Home

My Journey is long and I grow weary. From the Butterfly Garden my Journey is Dangerous. I need to take precautions and hold hands and watch my step. I continue into forest and pass a log that was across the trail but is sawed in two. I cross rocks in the trail carefully. I run down then up. Was that a small creek? I feel the heat off the dry trail and then I see more of a rocky trail. I must be careful, it’s straight down on the left side of the trail. Switchback down and cross a creek. I pass between 2 trees that are cut off at the top. There is a switchback up and then down, but I would HIGHLY advise taking the cutoff. Again carefully cross rocks and then past a rock slab by the trail. Oh my is that the Waterfall? “Like a bridge over troubled water” Cross the bridge and go up the switchbacks. At the 2nd switchback straight ahead between rock and log, under rocks is steering toward home.

Dual Dragonflies

Cross over the boardwalk and up the steps. Continue to follow the trail up, up , and more up. You are following the stream up the waterfall. Finally the bridge. Yeah! Cross the trail that says more hiking . Go up, use the restroom if you need to but if not continue to the right. Go over the fallen small trees in the trail. Visit the cabin. Look to the left of the trail there is a decaying log which hides the dragonflies in its bark. This can also be reached from coming the other way, but you’ll have to find your way to the cabin yourself.

The Buggy

From the cabin go down hill. At the choice go left (I got a little confused here and almost got lost) Run down hill pass dips and creeks and views. It will be about 2 miles down until you come to the next clue. See the scenic viewpoint sign, continue down. See the wooden scenic trail signs? STAY RIGHT! Pass by both and the next boulder on the left side of the trail the buggy hides. Continue down the trail and you will meet up with the main trail.

I don't know how many of these are left, I don't live in the area, but it is a beautiful hike anyway.
