Spohr Gardens was created over many years by Charles Spohr, now deceased. The gardens are held in trust and are open to the public. This letterbox is just outside the property, but we recommend a visit to the gardens, especially in May when the daffodils are magnificent!

Directions:

From Falmouth, take Woods Hole Road (sign says "Woods hole/Martha's Vineyard). Go about 2 miles to a light. Turn left at light onto Oyster Pond Road. Take first left (sharp left, angles back) onto Fells Road. Gardens near end of road, parking available on left.

Wander through gardens. Look for Captain Bligh's anchor, and several historic bells. There are dozens of old millstones and large nautical memorabilia, as well as lovely flowers, plants, and trees.

Clues from Spohr Gardens:

Back to Fells Road, turn east to continue down it. Soon road surface becomes pebbles for a short distance.

10 paces past the end of the pebbles, turn right into woods. Walk between two very straight lines of trees, go up a small hill.

After the hill crests, stop when you reach a fairly large rock that sticks into the path from the right. Turn left, walk into the woods.

You seek a rock that is near a tall rotten stump. Letterbox is hidden between the rock and a sapling that is growing a few inches from it.

Enjoy, and if you like the Gardens, be sure to make a donation if you can afford to.

Note: This box is walking distance to the Zinn Park box. Walking directions are inside letterbox. Distance, about 1/2 mile easy stroll.
