To the trailhead: From Paseo de Peralta head away from downtown Santa Fe on Washington Avenue. Go Right on Artist Rd toward the State Park. This will become Hyde Park Rd. At the intersection of Hyde Park and Cerros Colorados turn left. The Dale Ball Trails parking lot is on your immediate right. From here it will take about 20 minutes to reach this letterbox.
To the letterbox: Head uphill at the signpost for junction #1. when you
reach the signpost for junction #2 go right. Once you are on a downhill stretch start watching the hilltops on your right for the bow of an earthen ship. Just beyond this point you will see a lone pine (El Pino Solo) towering over the surrounding juniper and pinyon on the downhill side of the trail. With this tree on your immediate left you will find the letterbox just to the right hidden behind an orange rock.
