Missouri’s highest point is Taum Sauk Mountain, standing at 1,772 feet. Taum Sauk is located in south east Missouri in the beautiful St. Francis Mountains. Almost 1.5 billion years ago, volcanic eruptions of hot ash settled and cooled to form rhyolite. Erosion has left only the roots of these mountains behind, now dotted by oak-hickory forest and rocky glades. While you’re here, why not check out Mina Sauk Falls? They’re Missouri’s highest waterfall and hold a LB of their own. It’s only a couple miles down the trail form the highest point.

Standing on the highest point, go 26 paces (that’s two steps) on a bearing of 184˚. You’ll find an old log on the ground. At about it’s middle you’ll notice an opening. As with all dark places in MO, watch for critters. You’re LB is hiding inside.

As always, please be discrete in your LB activities and prudent in your re-hideation. Remember, only you can prevent Improper Re-Hideation.

Please contact me once you’ve found this LB to let me know of its condition. Thanks!

*Second Annual Mid-MO Spring LB Gathering is fast approaching on May 6th. for more information contact me or take a peek at two articles on C2B2's blog.
