Letterbox ok Aug 2019

From Kingston head west on 28 to just about Boiceville.
{2 mile hike one way}

Turn left on to 28A to the other side of the Ashokan reservoir and head up about 5 miles until you get to Watson Hollow Road . Here , make a right to get to the Sundown Wild Forest. (about 5 more miles)

Park at the Kanape Parking lot and cross the road to get to the start of the trail. In the beginning there is a small foot bridge to cross. To get to the Farm Area walk this trail. When you pass a covert you will be about half way. This trail is an old over the mountain turnpike that was used before there were any of the modern roads around. This trail follows a stream all the way until you get to a culvert bridge that crosses the stream. STOP..... Just to the left of the bridge are two silver birch trees up on the left bank. Just at the base of the trees, on the opposite side, is a rock covering the letterbox.

There is a deep hole with cold water here by this bridge about 4 feet deep where you can cool off by.

Hike another hour to the top of this mountain the blueberry's grow wild.(End of July to the middle of August)

Strawberry Stamp with Blue Ink................

Budster of the Catskills

Hike length: 3-5 miles
