Ah...the search for Paul in SF's childhood swimming hole continues. I brought Dick Tracy with me up to the Middleville/Kast Bridge area but could find no "room size swimming holes." No matter...this is a great place to swim anyway.

Take the Thruway (I-90) to Herkimer Exit 30. Follow the signs for 28 North...taking a right and then a left onto Caroline Street. Then right again onto State Street...following the Rt 28 North signage. Drive about 8/10ths of a mile heading east until you see the Hannaford's sign. Turn left here, and then an immediate right onto South Albany Street. Pass Baby Boomer's on your left and drive to the end of the street. Park here.

Walk on the dirt toad to the right of the gated/stop sign area. You will pass two maple trees on your right and will be heading toward the water and some large rocks. Turn right and follow the large rocks under the bridge. You will see another bridge ahead but walk up the rocks to your right..toward two small maple trees. Stop here. Turn and face the small building near the bridge up ahead. The second maple to your right will have a rock cairn at it's base...hiding Dick Tracy.

Have a swim here..it's a popular place. No swimming when the dam up above is running though. The water gets a little fast for swimming but great for canoeing and tubing. Enjoy!
