First of all, I must admit that I do not know who owns this land, so if that concerns you, this box may not be a good idea. On the other hand, the entire hike takes about fifteen minutes, and is in a very rural area. This is one of those great little hikes with a beautiful payoff at the end.

From Route 20, take the Route 166 exit and then drive away from Cherry Valley, towards Fort Plain. You'll be parking almost immediately in a parking area. (You don't want Rendering Works Road, you don't want Butler Road, you don't want to park in a salt storage area.) There is a rutted dirt road at the back of the parking area, follow this to the left, and then turn right on the first dirt path. Turn left at the pine tree with the twisty roots, and walk generally along the cliff edge and to the left, following the sound of the water.

Very soon you will come to a clearing. Step up to the orange rocks, and admire the views of the waterfalls. Then continue left on the packed dirt path. Over the edge of the ravine, you'll see a corrugated metal roof-like structure inside of a cave. Keep walking, and when the path forks, stay to the right, still following the edge of the cliffs. You'll pass an amazing pine tree over the cave you saw earlier.

Walk out onto a large rock ledge and enjoy the view of the waterfalls, the wildflowers, and if you've picked the right season, the wild strawberries. Return to the path, and continue the away you were going. You will come to a large concrete culvert, and off to your right will be a large multi-trunked birch tree growing on a rock ledge. Examine the underside of this ledge, and you may be treated to Wild Strawberries.
