DIRECTIONS

Go to Worcester,MA
From MASS PIKE
Exit 10A
Rte 146 N
First exit - Ballard St.
Turn left off ramp onto Ballard St.
First set of lights, turn left over bridge. You are on the new Blackstone River Road.
Cross railroad tracks.
At fork bear right.
Immediately take a left onto Whipple St.
Near the top of the hill, you will pass Steele St. on your left and North Steele St. on your right.
Pass two driveways. See meadow on your right. Park on side of road. Walk straight through center of meadow. ( Watch for our local fox).
Meadow ends at chain link fence, with rock pile on your left.( Beyond fence is Holy Cross's athletic field, do not enter).
Turn to right hand path, keeping fence on your left. You'll come to a mini-clearing, ( watch for two bouncing bunnies), ( well, if the fox hasn't eaten them yet,...)Go straight.
You'll come to an intersection. Pass big path on left. Go straight. Be on the lookout for one mini-path on your right. Pass it by. Path dips and curves to left.
Pass by second mini-path on right.
Less than one minute after you pass that second mini-path, search for the corner of the Holy Cross chain link fence on your left.
White rock at base of this fence corner. Behind it is a pile of little rocks covered in broken branches. Underneath that mess is the letterbox.
As you continue on , keeping the fence to your left, you'll see on your right-hand side a bank of wildflowers. Several types of butterflies and moths can be enjoyed from spring to fall as they feast on Milkweed, Queen Anne's Lace and other weedy treasures.
If you are feeling adventurous, continue walking as the chain link fence on left stops. You'll come to a wide gravelly path that descends down the hill.
IF you walk straight, this brings you to a little parking lot of Holy Cross. Take a right down the road, it leads you off campus onto McKeon Rd, behind the brand spanking new Fitton Field for baseball, home of the Worcester Tornadoes.
IF you walk down the wide gravelly path and take a left onto the little wooden bridge, it leads you uphill. Follow it and pass a path on your left. You'll come to a heap of mulch on your right. On your left, JUST before the mulch, there is a path on the left.
As you follow this path, a chain link fence will pop up on your left and rocks for stopping erosion on your right.
This leads you right back to the first path you were on, you've made a circle now.
Bear right up the hill, keeping the chain link fence on your right and you will return to the meadow where you parked your car.
No matter what the time of year, this trail is always beautiful and well-kept.
