Two things I really admire in this part of New York State are the family owned farms and the region's beautiful streams and rivers. This box celebrates them both.

This is a very easy hike, but you will want to wear shoes suitable for a short scramble in the woods, as well as some wading. I suggest a bathing suit in warm weather.

This is a very tiny box, so I'm not providing a stamp pad. But since I'm particularly fond of the dark green barns in this region, I suggest you bring along some kind of deep green ink!

From Route 10 (Church Street) in downtown Canajoharie, turn onto Montgomery Street, and then turn right onto Moyer Street. Turn right on Floral Avenue, and park in the lot after the large greenhouses.

Take the paved path that starts at the red sign in the parking area. Continue until another smalller dirt path joins your path. (If the paving has ended on your path, you have gone too far.) Backtrack a few steps and look up the hill to locate a multi-trunked tree to the left of the dirt path. The letterbox is inside a hollow trunk, hidden under a rock. Please use care in re-hiding this box.

Once you have found your box, you should continue down the path to the famed Canajoharie, or Boiling Pot That Fills Itself. Follow the river down stream, and you will find a particularly nice swimming area. Check out the other naturally formed "potholes." And, of course, be careful on the rocks as they can be quite slick.

Please respect the village's wishes, and don't stray upriver. Because there have been so many serious injuries from people jumping off the waterfalls at Wintergreen Park, the river is currently off-limits beyond the sign.

Drop me a note, and let me know how my box is doing.
