Just a couple of hints before you begin:
*The clue for #8 has been updated as of 07/01/09.
* This is a 'circular' journey of approximately 2 miles. It can be walked, biked, skated or driven. Dog friendly too!
* At the end you will come to a deli where you'll be able to purchase a picnic lunch, or snacks to take back to the park ~ your starting point.
* By train/bus: The 7 train to Main Street, and transfer to the Q65, ~ or the E or J trains to Jamaica Center Parsons Archer and transfer to the Q65, ~or the F train to Parsons Blvd and transfer to the Q65.
* Although these are all located outdoors in a pretty safe area we recommend doing this during daylight hours (or at least start #1 by dusk, and bring some id & a flashlight ;o). It's very hard to see these hiding spots after dark, and the raccoons do not like to be disturbed while scavenging (please believe us on this one)!
*If there are pups in the boxes, please feel free to take as many as you like! (We already have at least 3 live ones of our own ;o).
*There should be mini ink pads with most of the stamps, but we have had some get messy, or go missing. You may want to bring inks/markers - just in case. The only color we know you will need would be yellow for #8.

You'll be starting your journey on 164th Street at either entrance of Kissena Park. You should stay to the right (facing)of the lake, pass the flagpole, pass 3 lightpoles & 3 benches, but, again ~ stay on the path by the lake. See the tree with a 'face'? Keep on the path a little furhter...at the bocce ball court make a right across the grass. Go to the 2 storage bins with the tree between them, and the picnic table on their right. Have a 'backwards' seat facing the tree ~ behind a rock or two ~ reach under the right storage bin ~ stamp #1.

Circle the lake, ~OR~ 'about-face' either way ~ exit the park on the street that you entered...make a right out of the park, and continue on up the hill (this will be the longest stretch between L/Bs, and the only major uphill climb). At the corner of Booth Memorial cross carefully to your left. Pass 2 hydrants ~ near #3 there is a tree growing just outside the fence. Squished between ~ in a camo taped ziploc bag is ~ stamp #2. Please leaf/twig camo re-hide this one it can be quite visible. If you're "On-In-One", and feeling patriotic ~ you're headed in the right direction.

Continue on in the same direction at the corner make a left. (See Meriden across the street to your right?) Stay on the left side of the road. Behind the half-moon shaped road 'shoulder' (cars may be parked here)you will find a funky tree (1 stump with a fence 'skeleton' and 3 skinny trees growing out of it ~ look carefully in the summer - the weeds get out of control). On the left side of the tree ~ behind some twigs, & leaves, at the 'crook' of the fence where it meets the tree you will find Stamp #3. (Please leaves/twig camo ~ re-hide this one carefully - it can be seen from the golf course!)

Continue on in the 'lefterly' direction along Fresh Meadow Lane. Look for Bike Path signs ~ at the second one you will see guardrails ~ enter at the 1st opening ~ approximately 8 feet in & slightly to your left ~ you will see another funky tree ~ 1 stump with 4 skinny trees growing out ~ making the perfect little cradle for our Stamp #4 which is hidden under a rock.

Exit the bike path where you entered, and continue on in that lefterly direction (hope you're having fun ;o). Go to Underhill Avenue, and you guessed it ~ make a left, and cross the street. Be careful on this curve - some cars come around a little too fast! When you pass the 'mushroomy' bushes ~ just after the Church entrance ~ have a seat on the bottom step. At the base of the front bush ~ under a medium sized rock ~ lift for ~ Stamp #5.

Continue on in that same direction. When you reach 171st Street - make a right ~ up one block ~ cross over & continue on to your left on Pidgeon Meadow Road ~ when you reach Auburndale ~ cross over, but don't turn ~ look across the street to your left ~ See the "Free Manure" UUU sign? Maybe even some horses, and a dog or two in the corral? (Really - no kidding ;o). Directly across from this sign you will see a bush/small tree? Just inside, at the wall, under a pile of rocks, you will find Stamp #6.

Okay now, hope you're hanging in there. Stay on this side of the street ~ with the cemetery on your right ~ continue on. (We promise to get you back out of here soon ;o). Almost finished ~ the next 3 are really close together. Count down...170, 169, 168th. Rain, shine, sleet, or snow, etc. Magnetically attached ~ should be under the left box, but if not, you may also want to check the right box ~ for Stamp #7.

Whew ~ 167, 166, 164? Hey, what happened to 165? Oh well, you need to take a slight right detour on 164th. You will see a Knights of Columbus Hall - General Sherman ~ Father Shine Council #569. They have 2 large planters on their front steps. Catty~corner from the left planter, just inside the corner of the fence, camouflaged by the hosta plant is Stamp #8. Which had to be placed in a tiny, very flat camo covered ziploc bag. This is only the stamp and a magnet. No ink with this one ~ a yellow inkpad, or marker would be best. We have trouble keeping this one placed. This is it's third location. So please be as stealthy as possible.

Alrighty now, right off of the steps ~ about face slightly back on 164th Street ~ across 163rd Place ~ to your right you will see a 3' ~ 4' brick wall ~ keep to the left of it ~ need air? a vacuuming? a snack or lunch? If you do, this would be the place we told you about ;o). To the left of the deli entrance ~ need lots of ice? Magnetically attached behind the left side & toward the top of the icebox ~ Stamp #9, and the only logbook on the journey.

We really hope you enjoyed the journey, and the searches! Please let us know if anything needs to be repaired, or replaced, and of course if there is something that doesn't make sense!

If any were missing & you would like us to e-mail you an impression of the stamp(s) just contact us with the #(s). It was probably a real trip to get here & we wanted to make it as enjoyable as possible ;o).
