This little forest is owned by the College of Environmental Science and Forestry. It is located at the La Fayette Road Experiment Station at 452 LaFayette Road. Housing the College arboreta, the station plays an important role for students learning to identify woody plants, regardless of their major.

Directions to 452 LaFayette Road:

From Interstate Route 81 south or north...: Take Interstate 481 at Exit 16A. Exit I-481 at Rock Cut Road (exit 1) and turn right. Proceed to Traffic signal on Brighton Avenue. Turn left and proceed to second traffic signal. Take La Fayette Road approximately 1.2 miles. Before you get to the Station entrance, there will be a small pull off area ( shoulder) across from some houses numbered 345 an 351. No paved parking here. A small signs marks the entrance.....DAY USE ONLY.

From Interstate 81 north, exit at Interstate 481 north exit 16A and exit I-481 at Rock Cut Road (exit 1). Follow the above directions to Station entrance.

From 690, Take 481 South to Exit 1, same as above.

After parking, enter the grassy path by the sign through the woods heading downhill. When it flattens out there will be a grove of trees at your right.... the "Tree Showroom". Turn left instead onto a grassy road. Follow it until it comes to another "Tree Display Room" and you see grassy paths leading in many directions. Turn right here and head downhill slightly. You can hear the highway here, but turn right onto another grassy path. Walk along this, passing a rocky edge on your left and an old tree with a bustling beehive in it. Pass the beehive until you come to a long-ish rock covered with moss on your right. Turn and face the rock with your back to the highway sounds. From the left end of the rock walk in 5 steps or so to a mossy stump and rock. Stop. Look to your right and you should see an old hollow tree about 15 steps or so away. In the base of this tree is All Natural. Rehide it carefully!

When you are done, go back to the rock and continue on the grassy path..as it bears right. Now you are back to the hill. Walk straight up back to your car.
