THIS AREA HAS BEEN FLOODED AND CURRENTLY UNDER 20-30 FEET OF WATER- I WILL CHECK ON IT WHEN WATERS SUBSIDE-BUT IT'S PROBERBLY GONE & I"LL NEED TO REPLANT IT AS SOON AS THE WATERS PERMIT.

This is an easy drive-by, at a nice park run by the Army Corp of Engineers. You can, swim, fish, canoe, kayak, small boat here, there are places to grill, play horseshoes, changing house, restrooms, pavillions... It cost $1 per person over 13, under are free. (There are alternative directions if you aren't planning on staying/or off season)...There are 2 other boxes planted near here, plus the 3 at Goose pond would make this a nice place to break during a day of letterboxing near Keene. Park is closed in winter- so follow Alternate/winter clues to get it in the off season.

Find Surry Mountain Beach Area heading up 12A North, from Keene, this is NOT the Dam Area - (which has another box there).
Pay fee at station & proceed towards beach/parking area, locate the playground and pull into the driveway area walk up towards the double gate, look left of fenced-in area and see a small batch of white birch trees, behind the "twin" birch you will notice a larger birch tree, follow along fence to reach it, behind the larger birch are several small trees growing out near the base, Hidden behind the birch between the saplings is your letterbox.. Please use bark & leaves & natural debree to rehide well....Enjoy
Take a quick dip before more boxing......

Alternate/winter directions follow 12A past the beach area do not turn in, about 3/4 mile up the road turn right onto Pond Rd, then right onto Village Road follow to the end, parking at yellow gate-or at the "Pine Grove". (-you've just past "Old Home Week Pine Grove Letterbox on your left ) Follow paved road at gate, down hill looking left you'll see the nice view of the pond & "mountain"
keep walking until you see the playground on your right. walk up short driveway & follow clues as stated above.
