Located at the Lincoln Township Beach adjacent to one of my favorite lazy summer vacation spots: Chalet on the Lake. The beach is located at approximately 5340 Notre Dame Ave, Stevensville Mi, 49127.
A half mile off I-94 at exit 22
Notre Dame Ave is the "frontage" road that is just a few feet west of the I-94 ramps and goes north. (Street sign may be missing still so don't get confused, the road Thomton is like a frontage going south to Grand Mere State Park and Notre Dame is the frontage going north.)
Take Notre Dame Ave north and drive a minute or so to the Lincoln Township Beach on the left. If you pass the Chalets you have gone about 100 feet too far.
Semi-rustic restrooms available in-season.
A short but sandy hike with a small "dune" to climb at the end.
Bring your own ink - we like blue but any color will work.
Clues
Enter Lincoln Township Beach and park at the far end near the lake. Go down to the beach via the boardwalk and walk to the right past the swing set and enter the dune.
The middle of the dune has developed its own grassy hill with some small trees. Keep this area to your right and stay in the low area. Walk until you are even with the end of that hill area in the middle. Look left and find the tallest of the trees.
The camo-ed box is at the roots of that tree on the dune facing side, a bit to the right of the trunk. Hide well, all kids like playing in the dunes.
