Once upon a time in a land not so far away there was a lone wandering jester who had failed his last king and barely escaped being beheaded. He now lives his life going from pub to pub for small gold. In one pub he met a lovely maiden who he managed to keep laughing the whole night through. In the wee hours of the morn, the truth came to light, the fair maiden was the much loved princess from yonder castle. She lured him to her father’s Noble court with this offer, make my father laugh and you shall be given a life of comfort as the royal fool, fail, and you will be cast out, to wander alone once again. At the appointed hour he presented himself to the guard at the north gate. There the princess took him by the hand and drew him forward. At the wooden posts she sent him on alone. From here, he had only one chance to make the king laugh and he would not fail! He tried something simple to start and ran into the posts at the beginning of the trail. No laughing. He juggled twenty two steps past the post and stopped. No laughing. He turned left and paced 20 steps down the path while telling his best joke. He turned ninety degrees to his right, but still not even a smile. Getting desperate he tumbled all the way to the intersection at the bottom of the hill. Still no laughing. The king gave him a menacing glare and said “You have to get your balance back. Then meet me in my throne room.” and stalked away down the path. The jester got up and realized he was almost out of time. So he ran down the path over boardwalk and bridge ‘till he found the arrow pointing to the throne room. He ran down the trail until he tripped over a log and fell under a stone on the left of the path. He heard roaring laughter and he smile and pulled bark and leaves over him-self so he could take a nap and to this day his still naps under that stone waiting for the king’s next challenge.
