A great 18-mile bike trail starts in the town of Minocqua and heads south. You can bike the whole thing and back for a nice 36-mile ride, or you can choose to do a shorter journey. The box you are seeking is between mile markers 9 & 10. If you want an even shorter ride, or if you are walking, you can find different parking areas at a few spots along the trail. We’ll leave the research for that info to you, because otherwise these are very easy clues!

Along the way you’ll pass several lakes and will have a chance to rest at one. This spot has some picnic tables beside the lake, a pump, and pit toilets. After a rest, continue south until you cross the Scott Trestle. Soon after that you’ll come to the Old Railroad Line Shed. Stand at the NE corner and take a bearing of 320 degrees. Look for a dead tree that stands approximately 15 feet [2007 update: this tree has fallen, so you'll need to look at two logs to find the right spot], go to this stump and then search along the side of a nearby log. As usual, please replace with care so it isn’t found accidentally.

We hope you enjoyed your journey and since we don’t live in the area we would really appreciate an update on the status of the box if you find it. We won’t be able to check on it very often…
