BIG KNOB I
Getting there: Take US 2 west past M117 one and a half miles to Big Knob State Forest Campground turnoff, N4594. If you get to the Beary Patch Restaurant on the right, you have gone too far. Turn left and continue down the dirt road for 6 miles until you arrive at the campground and informational board.

Clues: Go right (west) of the campground to Marsh Lake Pathway. Follow the blue pathway markers on the trees for less than 5 minutes. Along the way you will pass a 6” diameter tree where a section has been cut out to open the path. There is a fallen tree in the path, but you can get around it. Continue past a large split fallen tree on the left (South) side of the path. As you keep walking, you will come to a 9” diameter tree where a section has been cut out to open the path. Count 40 steps from this tree as you go down the path and on the left (south) you will see a cedar clearing. Find the 3 cedars that are in a line in this clearing close to the path. Take 8 steps SW (in line with the three trees and to the right) from the 3rd cedar tree to a group of trees. You will find the letterbox at the back and base of one of these trees.

Take your swimsuit along with you, after finding the letterbox, walk down to sandy Lake Michigan and take a dip. Enjoy yourself !!!
