MR. KITTY’S LETTERBOX AND THE BRONZE CAT PAW

THIS LETTERBOX IS DEDICTED TO MY WONDERFUL BOYFRIEND ERIK. HE IS THE ONE WHO GOT ME INTO LETTERBOXING AND WAS ALSO THE GUINEA PIG TO MAKE SURE THAT THESE DIRECTIONS HAVE WORKED. AND SINCE I KNEW HE WAS THE FIRST ONE TO FIND THIS, I DECIDED TO LEAVE SOMETHING SPECIAL IN THERE FOR HIM.

DIFFICULTY: THIS TRIP WILL PROBABLY TAKE AN HOUR TO AND HOUR 1/3. NO CLIMBING IS INVOLVED, BUT SOME OF THE PATHS CAN BE A LITTLE ROUGH. MAKE SURE YOU WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES AND I WOULD RECOMMEND BUG SPRAY AND A BOTTLE OF WATER.

DIRECTIONS TO LOOKOUT ROCK:

Go on Rt. 146 and take the Central Turnpike exit. When getting off the ramp head towards Northbridge (take a left if coming from the north or a right if coming from the south). Take this road all the way to the end (you will come to a four way stop, go straight, that will take you into Northbridge). At the end of the road take a right. This is 122, follow this road to a set of lights and take a left. Continue on this road until it ends and take a right. The road will curve to the left, but there will be another road straight ahead of you. Please be careful on this road, it is not in the best of shape and some people like to pretend they are speed racers on this road. About a mile on your right you should see a dirt parking lot and a sign that says Lookout Rock. Park in this parking lot.

CLUES:

Take the trail into the woods. While on this trail you will pass to others that will branch out on the right. Stay on this main trail until you come to a three-way split. Once at the three-way split take the trail on the left. The trail will go to a small wooded bridge. Cross this bridge and continue down until a trail appears on your right.

Keep right, there should eventually be a tree lying across the path, if you see this you’re heading the right way. The walk from here to the letterbox is a little long but worth it. On your way you’ll pass these landmarks, It is important that you remember where these are:

1. On your right two trees shaped like a V in front of a large rock.
2. On the same side a little off the trail you’ll see two enormous rocks that are nice to rest on.
3. On your left the stone wall.

You want to take the second trail to the right and walk over two small fallen trees. Then take another right. At the end of this trail you can go left and into the river or if you want to find the letterbox, take a right and walk down the trail surrounded by ferns. At the end go left. A few paces down the trail, look to the left and find some multi-trunked trees. The tree with 2 large trunks and 2 small trunks is where Mr. Kitty’s Letterbox will be. In the notebook on the back cover will be something for you to read. It will give you a clue to where Mr. Kitty’s bronzed paw print will be hidden.

Stamp in, sign the book, and re-hide. Once you’re done you can go near the river; there is a large rock or two which you can sit on near the river to rest before heading back.
