The Goose Barn is located at 5311 Charles Street in Rockford, Illinois and is a rubber stamper's dream! The barn is literally covered from floor to ceiling with rubber stamps and stamp supplies. They have also been keeping some carving materials in stock, as the owner is now the letterboxer known as Dumpster Diva. Don't say I didn't warn you in advance...I'm sure you will see something that you just have to have.

The portion of Charles St. that the Barn is located on is lined with trees, so you will definitely have to drive the speed limit so you don't accidentally pass it by. There are yellow ribbons tied on the trees out front and the Barn is directly across the street from the First Baptist Church. You will know you have arrived at the correct destination when you see the Betsy Ross flag painted on the front of the barn. Another clue is the creature hidden in the center hole of an old wagon wheel on the front of the barn. There are other barns on this same street, very close by, so please make sure you are in the right place before walking in. The door to enter the barn is on the left side when you are looking at the flag.

I suppose now would be as good a time as any to let you know of The Goose Barn's hours. They are open from 10 to 5 Monday through Saturday, only extended to 7 pm on every other Wednesday. You can call the Barn at 815-397-9391 and if not during business hours, the message machine should tell you the dates of the Wednesdays they are open late. They are open late because it is their Double Dollar Day and a great day for you to be there if there are any supplies you might need. There are also extended holiday hours from Thanksgiving through Christmas, when they are open on Sundays, but when in doubt, send the Barn an email at GooseBarn@aol.com. You can't go wrong there.

Now on to what you all want...the letterbox information. To get this box, you must go inside the barn. Use the door mentioned earlier and travel up the stairs to the front desk. Browse thru the Barn if the clerk is busy and when she's not, just ask for the "letterboxer's discount". The bonus is, if you do happen to purchase anything after logging in the letterbox, there will be a discount given to you. If Dumpster Diva is working, she will do a personal exchange with you. Such a deal! Enjoy the ambiance of a 160 year old, "peg and post" barn on the pre-Civil War property and "Happy Letterboxing!"

Clues written with the help of Dumpster Diva. :)
