Recent reports are these have been water damaged #1 & #2, (4/25/07) but are still locatable. # 3 went missing and needs to be re-hid (a considerate non letterboxer found it scattered around & sent it to me. I get frequent updates on this one. Please seal letter boxes properly when replacing them. I believe it was due to careless replacing that they got damaged. I hope to replace this with in the next two weeks. Thanks,

From Court street in Keene, take East Surry Road, Pull into Goose Pond Conservation Area parking lot. Head up "White Dot" trail to the left of the "Map" pavillion.. follow trail until you reach the pond -about half mile. "Step" down stair and take a left. You will be following the "white" dot trail and "Hugging" the edge of the pond the entire time..

Box #1 "OUR TREASURE"

Follow trail a third of a mile, then you notice a small trail goes left off into woods, Take a right. A stone wall will be on your left, pond on the right, pass over a small stream that feeds into the pond. STOP! Notice "white" dot trail marks, look left see a tree with a bend in it! a perfect "Love Seat" to sit with your "Treasured" honey. Count from there 25 paces (average steps), on your right there will be a beaver sawn tree falling into pond, look left and up the hill, see the stone wall, walk up to it, look for a break "crumble" in the wall. Find the flat heart shaped rock on the side. Behind it you'll find
"Our Treasure", HAPPY FATHER"S DAY 2005!!
Please rehide well and continue on trail.

Box #2 " JONAH 2:10"

You'll pass lagoons and good places to explore, fish, canoe or kayak..enjoy!! Continue on trail, pass thru small break in stonewall, over a small stream, stay on "white" dot trail (DO NOT GO left to red/white trail). Cross a third stream --this is the largest so far. There is a bridge to the left but it may be easier to just walk across rocks. Be on the look out for a very large rock that resembles the "animal" that swallowed Jonah.. When you see it you'll notice it has been "beached" up against a double tree. Look in the roots of the tree behind a rock for your 2nd box. Rehide well and continue along trail.. You are about half way around now, the island is in sight, nice opening ahead.

Box #3 "GOOSE POND"

Another big stream, this is the one that needs a bridge, but there isn't one, so be careful, cross on the fallen trees, instead. Ahead the hill is steep and trail appears to go up it, but look right and follow "white" dots.. watch for sharp left, then right and you'll be out in the open on a "Land" bridge. Nice opening, good view of island, follow into woods. Watch closely trail splits (green/white goes left) follow "white" dot right, pass over old campfire pit, cross a stream, to a nice clearing.. Great view, island to your right, to your left (across pond) you can see another "land" bridge and "dam" & blue trash container. Your almost done! follow trail into dense woods, pass a muddy stream, on your left there are huge fallen trees, sticking straight up- dangerous looking, cross over the flat "rock" bridge. Look on your right, a stone wall will appear next to the pond. when you see another beaver sawn tree falling on wall, look directly under it, behind the flat rock will be "Goose Pond". rehide well...follow trail to "land" bridge past concrete square, over "dam" look for stair on left that leads back to parking lot..Enjoy! about 45min to 1 hours round trip (update us on how long it takes you) here some views of goose pond http://www.keeneonline.com/goose/

Semi-short cut to box #3 "GOOSE POND"

Do box 1 & 2 then turn around, when you reach the stair to the trail to parking lot, face pond. turn right follow trail over "dam", past concrete square into woods, thru a break in a stone wall, look for stone wall on left & beaver sawn tree, then follow clues as noted above. Stamp & rehide well. Turn around and return to parking lot. This may not save time, but after "JONAH" the trail gets more difficult so this may help, those who want an easier hike.
