"Brand new state, brand new state, gonna treat you great! Is there anyone who doesn't know at least part of our wonderful state song and anthem - "Oklahoma". Does any other state have a marvelous song written by Oscar Hammerstein and Richard Rogers? It was officially adopted on May 11, 1953. We decided to plant "Oklahoma" near to a spot that was especially dear to another one of a kind Oklahoman - Will Rogers. Our favorite son was from the area of Oologah Lake - which actually flooded his families farm! Hawthorn Bluff Campground on Lake Oologah is operated by the Army Corps of Enigineers and is another jewel in our state.
Go to the Skull Hollow Nature Trail inside the campground and park.
Start down the trail...past #1 and just before a choice--continue on the trail or go to the overlook--on the left edge of the trail are two tall trees that form a V - don't trip over the HUGE roots that cross the trail. You'll see a large hollow, fallen log to your right. The box is in the hollow log behind some sticks and leaves. USE A STICK to move the twigs around to locate the box.
Be sure to go to the overlook...it is worth it!
O K L A H O M A, Oklahoma, Yeah hoo!!!!!!
