SPECIAL THANKS TO BRENDA FOR REPLACING THE STAMP

Sanibel is one of the unique barrier islands of the world, having an east-west orientation when most islands are north south. Hence, the island is gifted with great sandy beaches and an abundance of shells. People come from all over the world, drawn by the song of the seashell, and they parade along the sands doubled over in a stance that's been dubbed the Sanibel Stoop. There are many good beaches to look for shells, but this microbox is located at Lighthouse Beach, which also contains a historic lighthouse and a boardwalk nature trail. So come look for shells and do the "letterbox stoop".

Directions:
From I75 in Fort Myers take US 41 to Gladiolus Road and go south to Summerlin Road. Turn left and travel approximately 12 miles to the Sanibel toll bridge. After crossing the bridge, turn left on Periwinkle and continue straight ahead to Lighthouse Beach, not left to the lighthouse. Park and pay the fee.

Clues:
At the far end of the parking area find the path to the lighthouse and follow it a little ways to a boardwalk. Instead of going on the boardwalk, go along the left side for 16 steps to the sign about who funded the boardwalk. While facing the sign, look left at a multi-trunk tree with a strangler fig tree around it a few steps away. Find a hollow a little to the right of center about 4 feet high. The camo microbox is within under shells. Please re-cover well.
