From the junction of Rt. 62 and Rt. 117 in Stow, MA (at the one and only
traffic light), go north past the library toward the fire station, and take
a right at the stop sign. Continue on that road, which becomes West Acton
Rd, looking out for mail boxes in the early 200s. Pull into the Flagg Hill
Conservation parking area on the left, where you'll see a white garage and
the conservation area signs.

Follow the White trail, and when you come to a T, go right. Before looking
for the letterbox, there is special rock covered spring to see in the woods, built by
a farmer over 100 years ago. When you see a large rectangular rock leaning
on a rock on the right, and a huge stump on the left, take the next trail
on your left - a flat rock marks the path. Follow path around the curve and
to the bottom of a small hill and look to your left. Enjoy what you see!

To find the letterbox, return to the White trail. Take the Orange trail to
the left when you see an Orange and White trail marker together on a tree.
(If you get to the caution sign, you've gone too far.) When the Orange
trail ends, walk to a enormous bolder and enjoy the view from the top. Back
on the ground, stand between two trees, and walk NNE 21 steps, staying
roughly parallel to the stonewall. Stop and face ESE, and look for a large
pine on the right with a small tree on the left and a dead tree in the
middle. Walk to the wall and dead tree and search away.

You can also find the spring on your way back. Look for a large stump with double stumps, pass a path on your right, then pass the large tree with the white marker, and the next trail on the right leads to the spring.

Have fun in Stow, from Pat and Wesley
