Nice climb - not too steep.
About 1 hr. round trip for these 2 boxes. Another 45 min. to reach the top and back.
Park in the Fells parking lot to begin this quest. See “The Fells” letterbox for directions. There is no charge to park here unless you are going to visit the Fells house and gardens.
Across the road from the Fells parking lot is the trail head for Sunset Hill Trail. Follow the trail up hill and follow the sign directing you left at an intersection. You will come to an area of boulders. See 2 large boulders on the right and a couple more just ahead a bit. Look for a tall woodpecker stump behind a rotting log just beyond and off trail to the right. Check behind the rotting log for Lady.
Back on the trail continue on following the sign for Sunset Hill Trail. Pass through fallen birches. Notice the rock pile. Could this be a depository for stone wall building? Pass a stone wall corner on the right. Go around the tree gate. There will be a fallen tree parallel to the trail with a double cut log (twin trunks) just beyond. Take a compass reading of 210* at the cut log to see the rock behind which Posey hides.
Continue to the top for Sunset Serenade if you wish, or turn around and retrace your steps to your car.
Please reseal bags and boxes carefully and re-cover nicely since I won’t be able to check on these very often.
