NEWLY REPOSITIONED!!!!

This letterbox is located in Allegany State Park in the southern portion of New York. It is the largest state park in New York. You can find it by going onto the Soutern Tier Expressway - Route 17. You will get off at the exit for Red House area exit 19.

You may have to pay a $7.00 entrance fee depending on when you enter the park. You will want to go straight in until you see the lake. Drive around the lake until you get to the Bee Hunter picnic area. There you can park your car. While facing the lake you can walk on the bike/hiking path to the right. Walk on this path until you come to the Thomas Kelly covered bridge.

Standing at the entrance to the bridge closest to the picnic area you came from, take 55 to 60 steps back towards the picnic area staying on the paved path. On the left hand side you will see a large rock. Go towards the rock. At the rock, look towards the creek looking slightly to the left. You will notice 2 mossy covered logs. One being longer than the other. Look in between the two logs and look even closer in the crack in the smaller one. There you will find the Covered Bridge Letterbox.

Be careful, this is a busy area. Please be discreet. Bring your own stamp pad.
