***These clues are updated as of July 1, 2005***

This area is a nice break for the "work drones." Try to take a break from your office and come here to stretch your legs. The same goes for small children and dogs. Keep them for another visit. There are other series of mine near here. Check out "Give Life", and "I Found My Inner Child at Inner Harbor."

Map of
North Franklin Street
Syracuse, NY 13204

Take 81 south to the Franklin/West Street Exit. At the end of the ramp there is a light and a sharp right turn onto North Franklin St. Take this right and another immediate right into the Dakota's Brickhouse Grill parking lot.

Or from Salina Street, turn south onto Butternut St and go over the bridge. At the light, turn right onto North Franklin St. Take another immediate right into the Dakota's Brickhouse Grill parking lot.

Box #1
After you park your car, cross the street and walk toward the Onondaga Creekwalk brick pillars. Stay to the right and follow the path until you reach a brick pathway. There will be stairs going down to the right. Follow these stairs to the bottom and you will be at the water. is fine. Continue over the ditch until you see a small path. Walk along the
creekwalk and you there will be a stone retaining wall to your right. The path splits now but take the lower route along the creekwalk. Just past the cement wall is a short section of black metal fence. Box #1 hides at the left end in the bushes. Now go back to the ramp and walk up.

Box #2At the top will be a round brick park in front of you. Head left on the path along the creek. You will come to 3 bridges in a row, with a blue one in the middle. Pass these bridges and follow the blacktop path going down. When the path begins to curve you will see a lamp post next to some bushes on the right. To the left will be a low stone edging. Two stones are buckled up/loose and below these is the second letterbox.

Box #3
Continue on the path until you come to a black bridge with a wooden floor. Cross over this bridge and go up the steps to the parking lot. Turn right and head across the lots until you see a series of metal posts in the ground. Walking between these you will find another path. Turn left and follow the path until you come to some steps on your left. The building above these steps has a large carving of reeds and flowers on its side. Once you have this bearing, turn around and head straight back down the path from the direction you came and walk across the black bridge with the blacktop surface. Turn left on the path toward the building and walk through a small courtyard. Walk though the fence on the other side and turn left when you enter the parking lot.

You will see a funny little building with a yellow sign. Walk out of the parking lot to the right of the building and step carefully onto the old railroad trestle. With the building on your right, look to the left under the end of the wooden ties.....all the way at the end...underneath...is the last letterbox.

Retrace your steps along the creek and back up the brick stairs to Dakota's parking lot.
