This box is part of the 2005 Great Lakes Hometown Letterbox exchange. The box was created by AJlb from Manitowoc Wisconsin and placed by Mobiusklein. It was created in memory of the 336 American submariners from the USS Cobia who died in WW II.

The box is located in Linus C. Palmer Park in Wyoming, MI. Get directions from the Peabody Ducks letterbox.

Clues: After you have found the Peabody Ducks Hometown Landmark box, follow these directions to find USS Cobia.
From the trail you were on, continue on to the "Y" and take the trail at 30 degrees.
When given a choice, left is right.
Next choice, left is wrong! Go past the huge Granddaddy pine, under the "bridge", and on to the hard path.
Right on the hard path, past the burned out stump, past the obstacle, and cross over two lanes.
Ah, softer under foot now. At the "T" go up stream, past the huge "V" Oak. At the burned out Beech, start climbing (the hill, not the tree!) :-)
At the "message" Beech, 18 paces, path at 170 degrees...take it.
Another hard path; go left then right (see...white is right).
Watch for the "Forest Itch". From there 45 paces to a large tree with very wrinkled bark.
From the side of that tree a pine at 285 degrees. There lies the USS Cobia...may she rest in peace.
To return, continue on the hard path in a Southerly direction. Enjoy the scenery! When the hard path curved uphill, once again, white is right.
Cross over. Next choice...white is not right, try red instead.
Soon you will see your destination
