You are looking for a small little road side rest 2.9 miles north of the Nelsonville Train Depot in Nelsonville along Rt. 33. The sign at this litte rest spot/park of sorts says, "Hocking Canal - Lock #19 - Established in 1841".

***If you miss pulling off, there are at least two other places just up ahead where you can turn around and try again. If you go as far north as an old abandoned brick church on your left, you have gone too far.

The information contained on the Historic Marker at the Nelsonville Depot really applies here as there is both Lock #19 of the Hocking Canal and the Railway right behind. Rail, roads, and canals were all very important ways to transport goods and raw materials each in their own era. The reader board contains an incredible amount of information if you have time to read it or scan it.

Once you park, cross the planked footbridge and look for a birdhouse on a pole. Stand with the birdhouse at your back and look at that large pine tree at the corner of the lock. Midnight Train is hanging like an ornament near the trunk of the tree. Go to the backside to retrieve. ***This container is waterproof as long as it is closed properly. Thank you for your help.***

Timing is the trick at this little park...but not too difficult.

Please be descrete and rehide well.
