A beautiful 30-50 min hike over Morse Mountain (really a hill) to a spectacular beach. Not accessible to the public any other way except foot traffic, even though its a small one lane dirt road. Great swimming in the summer, although cold...it is Maine after all!

Directions, from Rt1 in Bath take 209 approximately 11 miles to the junction of 216 and 209. 209 takes a left, you go straight on 216 another 8/10ths of a mile. On your left will be a small dirt road with a sign marked "Morse Mt Rd". This leads a short distance to a parking area. On the weekends, especially in the summer, the parking area fills up quickly so go early, (by 10am) or late in the day, (after 3pm) to get a spot.

Clues: When you come out onto the beach go left staying close to the rock outcroppings. As you walk you will immediately see treeless islands in the distance. As soon as you see your first island with trees on it (a very short distance) begin counting your steps. Walk normally and count approximately 50 adult steps. Stop, look to your left and you will see an area where the rocks make a small indented "sand cove" so to speak, perfect spot to get out of the wind. Climb up the rocks here and at the top you will see a wooden snow fence ahead and a small group of low growing evergreen trees on your right. The letter box will be tucked at base of the trunk closest to you.
