BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Kylemore Abbey is the home of the Benedictine Nuns in Ireland. Built originally as a Castle (1868), it is one of the best examples of Irish neo-gothic architecture. The demesne features the Great Hall and three reception rooms in the Abbey (under restoration), Gothic Church (under restoration), Mausoleum, tranquil walks, Video Showing, Craft Shop, Pottery Studio and Restaurant. A complementary shuttle bus service will take you from the Abbey to the magnificent six-acre Victorian Walled Garden (under restoration) which also features a Woodland Walk Museum, restored Garden buildings and glasshouses.

CLUES: Standing in the parking lot with your back to the Abbey you will see a wooden fence running along one side of the lot up into some trees. Follow the fence until it ends in a tunnel of giant rhodedendran bushes. From the end of the fence walk 32 paces into the tunnel. There will be a green tree on your left with an upwards growing trunk. The Letterbox is in the joint of the trunk covered with leaves. Please be sure to rehide the letterbox carefully so that it will not be detected by gardeners.

This letterbox has been damaged by the rain and will repaired shortly.

Happy Hunting and Enjoy the wilds of the Connemara.
