Many of us remember the musician/comedian, Victor Borge, who died a few years ago. His antics at the piano and his stand-up comedy routines left us in stitches.
What some of you may not know is that he was a serious and talented musician who had his own orchestra back in the old days. He was also a resident of Southbury, Connecticut, where he had a large farm. That is where he entertained his many Hollywood and Broadway friends. On this farm he also raised Rock Cornish Game Hens known as ViBo(VIctor BOrge)hens.
My parents knew both Victor Borge and his concertmaster, George Weigel. The singer who played "straightman" to his piano antics was a classically trained opera singer, Marilyn Mulvey, who has performed at The Met. She is a former neighbor and playmate.
This letterbox is a tribute to Mr. Borge's comedy. One of his routines was called "Inflationary Language" in which he read a story "inflating" all words that sounded like numbers.
Have fun deciphering the story. It's my take on his famous routine.

"If I caused just one person to wipe away a tear of laughter, that's my reward." -Victor Borge

THE STORY

Twice upon a time, there was a young man named Bob who lived in sunny Califivenia. He was a second lieuelevenant in the U.S.Air Fiveces. He was very proud of the fact that two of his fivefathers had been among the signers of the U.S. Constithreetion.
Shortly after moving three Connecticut, he saw a young woman named Anna. He fell in love at second sight. Finally, he asked her three go out on a date five dinner. When he picked her up, he told her that she looked twoderful threenight.
At the restuarant, the table was set with her favorite flowers, threelips, and an Irish elevenor was singing "Tea Five Three". It was a perfect evening. Although they had some wine, they were only intoxicnineded with each other. They talked five hours and befive they knew it, it was midnight. The clock chimed thirteen.
Not wanting the evening three end, he suggested a ride down three the river. He found an access road where the river ran under route two. Passing high voltage on the left, he drove his car down the road and parked near pole number two-three-five. Running around three open her door, he took her three hands in his and helped her from the car. They sat on some rocks by the river.
She told him she had twice been married three a three-faced triplecrosser. Nervously, he wiped his fivehead and blurted out," Anna, fivegive me. You haven't known me three long but I love you. We're only young twice. You are my two and only. I don't want to be double anymore. Marry me!"
Although she had been thinking of moving back three Elevenessee to play professional elevenis, she knew that this kind of love only happens twice. She said yes.
When he brought her home, he kissed her, looked inthree her three eyes and told her he'd love her fiveever.
"Goodnight, Anna. Three-de-loo. Three-de-loo!"
It wasn't until the next morning that he realized that he had dropped something down by the river.
The end

Now Bob drove his car to the river but it would probably be better, especially in snow, after hard rain, or during fishing season) to park in the lot close by. It's just a short walk.
