While traveling the U.S. Pacific Coast, I happened across Rainbow Brite and her friends, the Color Kids. Every 80’s child, and lots of people besides, will remember the cartoon girls and boys who provide color for Earth to make it “bright and beautiful.” I found all these colors on my travels, and you can find them and Rainbow Brite and the Color Kids, too!

Please let me know if you attempt to find these boxes! I cannot check on them all, being too far away, so please let me know how they are doing, and take along a rescue kit in case they need some repair! Thank you!

Patty O’Green Letterbox

Being partial to green and Washington, it was quite a treat to find Patty O’Green playing at a little park in Puyallup! Bradley Lake Park provides fun for families and is quite conducive to picnics.

Hike Difficulty: Easy
Clue Difficulty: Easy
Dogs: Yes (scoop stations)
Bikes: Yes

Directions to Location:
Take highway 512 to Puyallup and take the 31st Street exit. Turn right onto 31st and get immediately into the nearest left turn lane (not the farthest one). Make the first left onto Meridian, and the first right onto 31st. Go to the end of 31st and take a left onto 5th Street. You should see Bradley Park at the end of 31st, and the entrance is on 5th Street. Park in the main parking lot.

Directions to Box:
From the parking lot, take the asphalt trail to the lake. Head clockwise around the lake and watch for a (sometimes) noisy filtration/pump system on your right. It is hidden slightly in the trees, but you might be able to hear it before you reach it. From the pump, follow the asphalt trail approximately 35 paces (70 steps). There will be a dirt trail/service road on your left. Follow it for 27 paces as it curves up a slight slope and to the right. On your right, you will then see a fir with a stripe of resin down the side facing the trail. Northwest of the resin-striped tree, approximately 15 feet away, is a curved tree that comes out of the ground to the south before bending back to vertical. Between the curved tree and the stump, on the west side of the stump and under rocks, is the Patty O’Green Letterbox.
