Nails Creek Unit, Lake Somerville State Park
Nearest Ledbetter, Tx, but you have to go through Burton to get there, so I put that as the link.

Difficulty: Clues straightforward, trail can be muddy. Watch out for poison ivy, brambles and fire ants when leaving the trail. A short third-mile hike (one way). Pretty when the wildflowers are in bloom.

Lake Somerville State Park is divided into several units. Dragonfly Dos is at the Nails Creek Unit, on the southwestern shore of Lake Somerville. For more detailed information, visit http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/park/lakesome.

Directions:
From 290, take the Burton exit. In Burton, take spur 125. Turn left on 1697. Take 1697 to FM 180. Turn right on FM 180 for four miles to the park.

Once at the park, get a map. Take the main park road past the equestrian area to the next junction. Go left. Parking for the Nails Creek Trail head is just ahead on the left (across from the tent camping area).

Clues:
From the trail head, take the Nails Creek Trail, following the white signs. You will cross over a footbridge. Shortly after that, the trail will make a big U. From the bottom part of the U, go 33 steps. You should see a humongous dead tree to your left. Continue on the the trail. The trail will soon curve to the left, but you will want to continue straight into a small clearing. Straight ahead at the end of the clearing are two trees together. Go right to another small clearing and curve left. At the far side of this meadow is a downed log. Midway behind his log, Dragonfly Dos is resting.
