Wild West Series #7 is Sequoyah. This Cherokee man was responsible for creating the Cherokee alphabet. This area is the home of the Cherokee Nation. The Murrell Home next to the park was the home of Chief John Ross. The home is located in Park Hill at the South end of Tahlequah close to the Cherokee Heritage Center.
Follow the signs to the Murrell Home. Park at the parking to the east of the large house where the playground is. Follow the trail over the bridge to find the Oklahoma shaped garden. Take the path to the left. Continue until you come to an off beaten path that goes to the left. You will know it because there is another raised rock garden similar to the Oklahoma shaped garden. Follow it up the hill and all the way to the back fence. Don't forget to watch for forest orchids and other wild flowers. At the fence you will see a beautiful fallen tree, which is a great place to stop and take a photo and watch the birds. We saw at least 10 or more blue birds and a woodpecker. Continue on the path to the right along the fence line. You will come upon a pile of man made rock and natural rock. Stop and face the first pile. Look to the right for a tree of three. Directly behind it is a pile of rock. Look under it for the treasure.
