**** Alive and well as of Dec 2005 ****

Cherokee Strip Museum, located in Perry, OK, is about ½ mile east of 1-35 off exit 186. The area behind the museum is free to explore whether or not the museum is open, from dawn to dusk. Take the paved path behind the museum to stroll through exhibits including an old school house, a teepee, an old jail (be glad you behave yourself), and old farm implements. From the large piece of old farm machinery that sits on a concrete footing, follow the fence line north to the small bridge over the little stream. Don’t go over the bridge. The letterbox is under the left side of the bridge, under a rock.

From the 122nd Street North exit off of I-35, follow the signs to the Oklahoma Welcome Center, which is visible from I-35. Park on the left side of the building (as you face the building). The letterbox is located behind a stack of metal posts that are leaning against the back wall, next to the back door. There are vines twisted around the metal posts, almost obscuring them. The letterbox is tucked into the vines.
