PLEASE NOTE:
This box will be removed on March 31st, but will return again with the dragon in March 2007.

Each spring a massive dragon emerges from his lair far above the icy waters of a long and narrow lake. His pride-filled roar resounds across his kingdom as he slowly parades past loyal subjects and bitter rivals. Some years he battles his greatest foe, the regal phoenix, while others his lumbering march goes undisturbed by any enemy. The dragon ends his journey in a vast field surrounded by costumed revelers who celebrate the day with song and much good cheer.

Alas, the gathering then turns brutal. The dragon's faithful keepers, those who have nourished him and built his strength through the long winter months, unexpectedly confront him with torches and jeers. "Burn him," they cry before setting fire to the one they honored only moments before. Flames rise and ash falls until all that is left of the mighty beast are his smoldering bones and the bitter smell of smoke clinging to hair and coat. The masses depart and quiet returns until the dragon miraculously emerges again the following spring.

Stand before the dragon's lair, the name of his home in large letters before you. Follow the path to the left, circling the cave until you see a white door cut into the side. Sit carefully on the top step leading up to this door and survey the dragon's kingdom. Carefully remove the debris and rocks from the ground in the corner where the steps meet the cave's exterior wall. Please be cautious as you retrieve the dragon's mark - spies are all around. You may wish to leave the steps before opening whatever treasure you find. Be sure to exhibit similar care when returning your find to its nest on the ground, covering it first with the flat stone and then with the leaves and other debris. The dragon thanks you for your concern.

If you miss the dragon this year, never fear - he will reappear next year to greet his legions of admirers before falling victim to their cunning betrayal yet again.

Please bring your own ink pad. You may also wish to investigate another mysterious adventure within very close proximity.
