The Old Homestead
This combination Letterbox and geocache box in located in Mithchell Memorial Forest, one of Hamilton County’s Parks. It is placed as part of the 75th anniversary of the Park District. The land was originally the Mitchell farm. You can still see remnants of the farm throughout the park.
1. Park in the Stone Shelter parking lot.
2. Proceed to the stone shelter.
3. Stand at the SE corner of the shelter and take a bearing of 100 degrees.
4. Walk 67 paces (single steps) in that direction. This should bring you to a larger size tree at the west side of the old Homestead driveway.
5. The letterbox/geocache is in the tree.
