Owl's Nest Park
Doylestown, PA

Owl's Nest Park is located on Silo Hill Road between Plumsteadville and Doylestown, PA. From Doylestown travel North on Route 611, turn left on Curly Hill Road, turn left again onto Silo Hill Road. The park entrance is on the left. Park in the lot on the left. Park is open until dusk. Sorry, I don't think they allow pets. Remember to wear boots, it tends to get muddy.

Difficulty:
Easy
Less than 1/2 mile hike

I planted this box as a birthday present for my dad, Leafcutters! It was so nice, we decided to share it with everyone! Make sure to leave a special birthday memory in the log book.

Clues:

Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday dear Dad,
Happy Birthday to you!

I planted a special present, a very special present. Let me tell you where it is...

Talk a walk down memory lane:

When I was young, I remember you taking me fishing. I caught so many sunfish while you put up with my tangled lines, you always untied them, and I don't think you ever got to actually fish!
Walk down to the edge of the water, turn right, sit on the bench and remember all the fish stories you told! I could have hidden the box here, but didn't.

Walk around the pond to the pipe standing out of the water, peer into the woods. I remember all of our bird watching adventures. Watching red tailed hawks and owls. These woods are full of birds, stand and listen to their songs. I should have hidden the box here, but wouldn't.

Head back towards the bat boxes perched high on wooded poles. In some way the bats remind me of you, you are both nocturnal. Bats spend their nights locating bugs, you spend your days finding letterboxes. It's sort of the same. I might have hidden the box way up the bat box pole, but couldn't.

Walk down the lane towards the park entrance. Remember the owl statue at the entrance? The wisdom of the owl reminds me of you. The older I get the more I realize how wise you are. I should have hidden the box here but didn't.

Walk back the lane towards the parking lot. As I walked along, I saw a large oak tree on the left side of the lane. It made me think of your letterboxing stamp, the oak leaf. It also made me think of how little acorns grow into big trees, with sunlight, shelter and love. I took a break at the tree, wandered around the north side, and placed your present sheltered in nature, with a rock and leaves for wrapping paper.

**NOTE: Please use discretion when stamping in. There is a picnic table in the parking area that is great for stamping up. Please rehide well.***
