Difficutly: Easy
Distance to Mini-box: 30 Yards
Status of Mini-box: ALive and Well on 5/27/2009
The "Scooby Doo" mini-box is located in LBJ state park, just east of Stonewall, Texas. This is LBJ's home in Texas, and now has picnicing, hiking, wildlife, a museum, tours and much more.
Directions:
From Austin, take Hwy 290 past Johnson City to almost Stonewall. The park will be on your right. Pull into the main entrance. Go right at first intersection (Left goes to the visitor center). Continue past the living history center, then take a right to the playground. Park on the right side of the playground.
To the Mini-box:
From the road (stand between the oak trees near the road), cross the road going southwest and find the trail leading into the woods. Start counting steps from the edge of the road, going 30 steps on this trail (240 degrees). Walk 11 steps at 140 degrees to a low lying Cear tree, with a split base. Look up the right side branch, where the limb forks to the left. Looking over this crotch are lower limbs. Look for the rock on top of these limbs. The mini-box is tucked up under the crotch, wedged in. Be sure to replace it as you found it.
