This is the best place to stop when driving on the 5! I was very disappointed to learn that there was only one drive-by letterbox on the way from my house in the bay area to my parents in orange county. I know more people take that long stretch, and so I've planted a box that is a drive-by but it also at a fantastic place to stop and eat, and fill up the gas tank!
exit the 5 at the 41 in kettleman city. Go East. turn right onto Ward road, like you are going to in-n-out (the best burgers in california--be sure to have one before you get back on the road). go left at bernard (away from in-n-out). shortly after that on your left just before the mobil station is an "unemployed" wall. The box is hiding behind it under a rock.
