Directions: Follow the Schoharie "Creek" 15 miles west on 23A from Hunter. Park on the right side of the road.

Distance: A quick mile round trip, some steep parts. This is a FUN spot!

Clues: Walk the trail toward the top but stay straight** going through two stone walls. Take a right turn and head for the spectacular view!!! "H. BEESE" chases you easterly on trail to an old pine guarding a slanted slab stone. Within lies Zadock Pratt. Please recover the hole by stacking the rocks, sprinkle leaves and debris for authenticity! Be sure box can not be seen. You can go down from here to the stone carvings near a white birch choked by barbed wire, but be careful.

**The first right just before the stone wall takes you to the stone carvings. Safety: Please be careful with young children.

History: This man made the nearby town. He built quality houses for his employees (some of which still stand today), He made and owned all types of business' in this community. He even had his own money printed with his picture on it which was exchanged at face value on Wall Street. Enjoy!

NOTES: Bring a pen and your own ink. One of my favorite carves.

Hike length: 0.5 miles
