Coming And Going

NOTE: The Southbound letterbox (Going) is currently missing (4.1.09). I will be replacing it sometime this summer, check back again.

Interstate 81 - Jefferson County - New York

In the mile and a half between Exit 39 (Mannsville) and Exit 40 (Pierrepont Manor) are two rest stops, one on the northbound side and another on the southbound side. For your enjoyment a letterbox has been placed at each so you can have some fun both "Coming and Going"!

Clues

Coming (Northbound)– When you pass Exit 39 be prepared to pull into the rest stop (it’s approximately a half mile or so). Brake immediately. The letterbox is magnetically attached to the right post of the first NO LITTERING sign.

Going (Southbound)- When you pass Exit 40 be prepared to pull into the rest stop (it’s less than a half mile). Brake immediately. The letterbox is magnetically attached to the right post of the first NO LITTERING sign.

Notes

These rest stops are basic pull-offs with no amenities except a few picnic tables.

These rest stops are frequented by truckers and sometimes they are parked adjacent to the sign. If you are alone PLEASE don’t go near a truck, the box just isn’t worth the risk! Always use caution and be wary of your surroundings!

The stamps compliment one another and look somewhat amusing if northbound is stamped above southbound on a single page. Since the stamps are the same size just allot the appropriate amount of space regardless of which you get first.

There are other letterboxes nearby if you have time. Be sure to get their clues just in case!
