Go to Calabazas Park in San Jose at the corner of Rainbow Drive and Blaney Avenue. Drive north on Blaney and turn left into the parking lot just at the end of the park (before you cross the creek). At the end of the parking lot you will find a double gate with pedestrian passages around it. Use them to enter the park. Follow the path along the third baseline of the baseball diamond past the small cinder block building just behind home plate. The concrete path splits just beyond the building; stay to the right (along the creek). You will find a black chain link fence on your left; follow it until you reach lamppost #1057. Count the pavement squares after that post. Shortly before you reach Rainbow Drive, you will reach the 22nd square. At the far end of that square, you will be at the beginning of a chain link fence on your right (along the creek bank). Stand facing the creek with your back against the first post of the fence, and as you walk toward the creek (which may be dry) looking down the creek bank you’ll see several large gray rocks. You’ll also see two rocks side-by-side that look out of place, one brown, the other green with lichen. Carefully go down the bank and sit on the brown rock with your back to the creek. You’ll see a hollow formed by some of the large gray rocks and filled with two or three smaller rocks. Behind the smaller rocks is the letterbox. In case you’re wondering what the stamp has to do with the park, you may wish to look up Calabazas in a Spanish-English dictionary.
