::::WARNING: This box has been reported as missing, and I have not had a chance to check on it yet. Search at your own risk!::::

Difficulty: Easy (one steep incline and a few fallen trees)

Driving Directions:
Take Interstate 40 west from Hickory or east from Asheville to exit 111. Follow road signs to downtown Valdese. Turn left at the first light (you will see a Sara Lee bread factory on the far side of the street). You will be turning west bound onto Hwy 70. Go straight through 3 lights and turn right onto Church Street at the fouth light. McGalliard Falls park will be on your right a mile or two down the road. In Valdese you will pass a cute little 1950's diner called Myra's, if you are hungry they make a great cheeseburger. For a great view of the waterfall go behind the picnic area near the parking lot to the overlook.

Letterbox Directions:
Follow the paved path to the far right hand side of the parking lot. You will cross a cement bridge over the river. Immediately after the bridge turn left onto the gravel path that leads down to the old water mill. Down in front of the mill is a great spot to view the waterfall, but to find the letterbox you want to continue on the gravel path until it becomes a dirt path that leads down to the stream. Follow this path downstream until another stream merges in with it. Where the two merge there is a small path leading off to the right up a steep hillside to a rock outcropping. About halfway up to the outcropping there is a smaller rock on the left hand side with a stump growning out of the top of the rock. The letterbox is in a hollow under the rock.

When you have finished please remember to cover the box with leaves and sticks to properly conceal it from others who pass by. I have moved out of the area so please send me an email to let me know the condition of the box.
