New box and a new spot... maybe the squirrels won't haul this one away.
(Reported missing 8/06)
Got to see a baby seal be born today!
Easy Stroll, kid friendly
Just North of the San Simeon (4.2 miles to be exact) is a large rookery of Elephant Seals. Just about every month the elephant seals are doing something exciting on this small beach. January is birthing, Feb is mating, and so on. These creatures are truly amazing animals. You can find more info and a calendar of expected events at the following website http://www.elephantseal.org/index.html
OK so go to the site 4.2 miles north of the gate to Hearst Castle in San Simeon.
Walk North to the end of the parking lot
Take a rest at the bench that faces the ocean near the gate
at 330 degrees it says not to move the fence??? Is this a problem?
Just in front the warning is two rocks the one to the east on the highway side under the grass.
Please be careful to be stealthy. Lots of people around.
PS. Not a good idea to take your doggie here.. apparently the seals are able to transmit Parvo to dogs.
