Caney Creek Park is on the south side of HWY 190, western side of Newton, just one block from the courthouse. This park is being expanded and beautified so please be advised that the clues may not apply for very long! When I visited in Jan 2005 there was no sign identifying the park but it is easily found with lots of parking and a large “geyser” fountain in the central pond. The walking trails are lit with antique style lighting and are paved. A very pretty place!
This box is an orphan and would benefit from a better container as I suspect the site I chose may be quite wet. Let me know if you are willing to adopt this box, it may need to be moved as the park is developed.

From the parking lot walk along the eastern most paved path, on your left. You will proceed past the pond to the most southerly light post (about #19) before the path starts curving back. This post is past the paved path, when I was there it was in a rough muddy section not yet groomed. Standing at this post take a reading. Look 15* toward the creek. Find 2 trees leaning in toward each other. The moose is hiding between the 2 trees, under some leaves and branches.
