NOTE: 11/30/2006 It has been replaced again.

A driveby.

Dedicated to the ingenuity of private industry and capitalism.

While heading up to the eastern sierras Mojave is a natural stopping place for gas, eats, and a potty break. Nothing ever happens here, or so it seems. Granted it is always cold in winter, and unbearably hot in summer, this little town just seems like a good place to be driving THROUGH. Some locals have had other ideas, and they thought it is a great place to be LAUNCHED from. On October 4, 2004 Scaled Composites, LLC. the builder of SpaceShipOne won the Ten Million Dollar Ansari X-Prize. They were the first private manned mission to space.

As you are heading north on Hwy. 14 approaching Mojave look for the "Welcome to Mojave" sign on your right (east). Continue past the sign and turn right(east) on the dirt road entrance between the RR tracks and Hwy. 14. Camelot road ends at 14 and this a dirt road across the Hwy. from Camelot.(Camelot???? in MOJAVE???) Head back to the sign and park. Look at the humble saying and below 'their' and behind a grey rock you will find the letterbox.
I realize you could probably park on the side of Hwy. 14, but the dirt road is safer.

When researching our clues please be aware that when previous searchers list “ATTEMPTED” on the clue sheets it may reflect more on their abilities as finders than indicate whether the box is viable or not. We do monitor our clues and boxes pretty well and appreciate the notes written to us by those that find or attempt our letterboxes.

Please contact placer directly or through the LBNA chat list regarding status rather than unofficial databases.
