Background Info: Flower Mound, like many communities around the nation, suffered from it’s own success. Rapid growth and development had begun to overshadow the towns rural background and many of the towns open spaces and tree ways were rapidly disappearing. So Andre Gerault, our family patriarch and grandfather, and a member of the Flower Mound Parks and Recreation Board went to work. He tirelessly campaigning with the dedicated members of the community and board to create a series of trails winding through the expanding housings developments and linking schools, parks, and neighborhoods in a system of over 30 miles of paved paths. So in honor of Andre’s memory and a bit of fun for those using the trails, several Gerault grandkids and great-grandkids planted the “Be Happy” box. Be sure to hunt our other Flower Mound boxes to learn some more about this community and our clan, esp. the “Gerault Park Box”!

Directions: Park at the Timber Creek Elementary School. 1900 Timber Creek Rd. Alternatively, you can park at others entrances to the trail system and have a ride, however, our clues will start here. First take some time to enjoy the Timber Creek playground. We certainly did! Especially the interesting round swing set with it’s five swings facing inward. On the day we planted the box, a mother playing with her toddler said that she had attended the school and they would swing high enough to try and kick the central hub! Wow, extreme swinging!
After playing, the trail exits the park on the left. Pass the oval concrete track, (What’s that for?), come to the fork. The trail crosses bridges both ways. A wooden one on the left and metal on the right. Go right. Cross over the metal bridge, and continue. You will pass a series of picnic tables and then the trail will draw very close to the house's back fences on the left. Following along, you will pass over two culvert pipes draining beneath the path. Stop atop the second one. You will know its right because the trail dips sharply to it. Look down. In the concrete, are seams. One running the length of the trail and others crossing it at regular intervals. Counting from the seam directly over the culvert, go six seams. The sixth one should point to, on your right, a tree just off the trail with a lots of curving exposed roots. The box is in a hollow on the back side of the tree, covered with a bit of leaves and such. Once you see the box, you’ll know where it gets it’s name! If you take the box on down the trail you’ll find a bench just a little farther on. Please use much care in retrieving and re-hiding the box, as folks can see the hiding location from their house windows. And make sure that when you refill it, the Letterboxing info is prominent, as this box will almost certainly be discovered at some point. Have Fun and BE HAPPY!
