Trail difficulty: Slightly moderate (a little up hill, off trail, over some dirt, rock, and cactus areas)
Time: About 10 minutes one way
Stamp hand-carved
Version 3.0: this is the third location and second stamp and logbook for this letterbox!
Status: Alive and well on October 31, 2016

This letterbox is located in the western part of Agua Fria National Monument (BLM). From I-17, take Exit 256. Go east on Badger Springs Road for a short distance to the large flat gravel parking lot and park near the information kiosk for the National Monument.

From the right side of the kiosk, walk east on the dirt road FS#9287. After crossing the concrete dip, stay to the left and along the edge of the deep ravine. Look for a brown fiber glass stake off to the left of the road. From the stake go at about 48 degrees (from mag. north) for about 28 steps to a small Mesquite Tree on the edge of old pavement. From that tree go at about 10 degrees for about 34 steps to a medium size Mesquite Tree. From that tree go at about 325 degrees for 32 steps to a Catclaw Acacia shrub. The box is under the back side of the shrub under a flat rock covered with some plant debris (do not create a SPOR please). Be alert for snakes.

Please be sure the contents are double ziplocked when you put them back in the box (i.e. the stamp is in a ziploc, the book is in a ziploc, and the two are in the larger ziploc bag). Please rehide the box well under the rock and cover with some plant debris so that it can not be seen from any direction.

I will not be able to check on this box very often, so please let me know if you find it and/or if the box needs attention:
