This letterbox is located in the western part of Agua Fria National Monument (BLM). From I-17, take Exit 256. Go east on Badger Springs Road for a short distance to the large flat gravel parking lot and park near the information kiosk for the National Monument.

Walk east on the main dirt road. The road will soon come to a wide wash. As you dip down into the wash, look for a brown fiberglass stake in the wash on the right side of the road that says "No Dumping". From this stake, go at about 6 degrees (from mag. north) for about 335 steps up the slope to the top of the ridge and to a broad dense Mesquite Tree near the western slope of the ridge (you will probably need to go around some cactus or bushes as you walk up the slope, so keep careful track of your compass direction and the number of steps). This Mesquite Tree has a small Oak Tree or Fremont Barberry Bush (has small, sharp, spiny, holly-like leaves) growing at its north side. You will know you are at the correct Mesquite Tree by orienting yourself with the following bearings from this tree: the left steel power pole is at about 210 degrees (from mag. north), the information kiosk is at about 250 degrees, the middle power pole is at about 256 degrees, and the right power pole is at about 308 degrees. The box is under the north side of this Mesquite Tree under some rocks and plant debris.

Please be sure the contents are double ziplocked when you put them back in the box (i.e. the stamp is in a ziploc, the book is in a ziploc, and the two are in the larger ziploc bag). Please rehide the box well under the rocks and plant debris so that it can not be seen from any direction.

I will not be able to check on this box very often, so please let me know if you find it and/or if the box needs attention: http://home.att.net/~azroadie/letterboxing.html

This letterbox is in my “I-17 Series”. The other boxes in the series are: “Fort Tuthill”, “Pioneer”, and “Red Tank”.
